‘MyEtherWallet’ knockoff app removed from Apple App Store – News

Apple said on Monday it had removed an unauthorized paid iOS application from its App Store named after ‘MyEtherWallet’, a free service for storing digital currencies. The latter had complained that the app was improperly using its name. This MyEtherWallet version was at #3 on the App Store’s Finance chart.

The app’s developer was listed as Nam Le, who reportedly has no relation to the service & no history with bitcoin. MyEtherWallet.com is one of the most popular services for storing cryptocurrencies, but it doesn’t have an official app in Apple’s App Store. MyEtherWallet costs $4.99 and its App Store page says that it allows users to anonymously manage their ethereum wallets, create wallets offline, and store wallet keys securely inside their iPhone.
The creators of MyEtherWallet said in a tweet that they had contacted Apple in a bid to have the app removed.
