Minds announces beta launch of open-source social networking platform

A network that rewards you with reach, that’s what Minds claims to be.

Minds has launched in beta recently. This rather unique & free social networking app, for iOS & Android, works like this – for every mobile vote, comment, remind, swipe & upload, members can earn points which can then be exchanged for views on posts of their choice. Essentially, it gives everyone a voice, Online.

You can many things with Minds –  start your own social network or a Minds channel with newsfeeds, blogs, videos, images, groups, wallets & encrypted messenger.

A discovery feed, for example, allows users to browse other users’ profiles or shared Content. This allows users to easily find others to subscribe to, or to simply browse shared and/or boosted images or videos. Content is separated into suggested, trending & featured categories. When browsing images or videos, users can rate each item up or down, or tap “pass” to move on.

On the app’s home feed, all users can track their own posts, in addition to viewing Content from their subscriptions. Each post also has the number of views & votes, listed alongside, all of which allows more interaction between users. When 2 users subscribe to each other, the app’s encrypted chat functionality becomes available for private communication.

Here are of its features:
• Purchase or earn points for voting, commenting, uploading, swiping
• Exchange points for increased views with “Boost”
• Find people and brands in your local area with geo-location based results
• Swipe to vote on Content & subscribe to channels
• Match with other minds by mutually subscribing in order to chat
• Share status updates, photos & videos
• Reach 100% of your subscribers
• Curate a news feed
Search for media
• See what’s trending in the world
• Share to your other social networks

Minds claims to be the world’s “1st free and open-source social network mobile app.” It is also available as a Web-based app.
