Manage Website Content with ‘Docdown’

web content

Sometimes managing Web Content can be a hassle. With all the editing & re-deployment of Content that a developer needs, this next startup could be a timely saviour. ‘Docdown’ is a tool that helps you manage your Web Content with the power of Google Docs.

Docdown allows you to write Content for your Site in a word processor. In addition, with its formatting tools, it ensures this Content appears identical to the document. With this, anyone who has access to the doc can become a Site contributor. Its developers claim that to ensure your data is secure, they use Google’s ouath protocol to fetch the data.

How to use Docdown

Setting up Docdown involves just a few steps. 1st, you’ll need to create a new document on Google Docs. After you’ve edited the document with the Content you want on your Site, you can then link the document.

In order to link the document you need to copy the documents’ Id from the Google document page. The document’s ID appears in the middle of the long URL after the slash appearing after d/ & before the /edit. Paste the ID on the dashboard page & press the link button.

The next step involves embeding the document with your page. To do this, click on the view button on your dashboard & copy-paste the Javascript library. Identify where you would want your Content to be displayed & place the <div>.

According to its developers Docdown works with almost all Sites without the need for you to configure anything. However, for Websites that use dynamic loading Docdown requires you to use the Docdown load () method to inform the tool when to load your Content.

To access Docdown youll need to create an account. This tool is free. However, it has various pricing plans which you can utilise if you wish to link more than one document.
