LINE introduces Popcorn Buzz, group chat app for 200 people at once – New App

That’s right. Japan’s Line Corp. has launched Popcorn Buzz, an Android app that enables up to 200 people to join the conversation simultaneously.

Here’s what the announcement on the official blog (http://official-blog.line.me/en/archives/1029772830.html) said: In search of a better way to get in touch with all the people close to you, all at the same time, we’ve released a revolutionary group calling app called “Popcorn Buzz,” and it’s totally free!

Other apps like Skype & Google Hangouts allow free group voice or video calls but for limited number of users.

So how will a user manage 200 people altogether? Here’s what LINE has to say: We’ve carefully engineered a system in Popcorn Buzz that easily shows you who’s currently talking to address this issue. Small green circles light up over the profile pictures of people who are currently talking, and the profile pictures of invited people who have not yet joined will be grayed out.

(We think the best use of Popcorn Buzz would be to have a mobile party, wot say?)

For now on Android, this app is free. There’s some talk of an iOS version, too.
