Jargon – the SDK for “localizing” your mobile app – #Startup

By: Kshushi Sompura & Taarika Ghaswalla

At 1st glance, the San Francisco, US-based startup Jargon seems just that – pure tech gibberish. But once you start researching further, you realize things are not as difficult to understand as they seem. To begin with, Jargon is an apps translator, but there’s more. It’s a tool, a Software Development Kit (SDK)for mobile app development; “for developers, built by mobile development.”

Jargon lowers language barriers so that any mobile app, built anywhere & by anyone can serve global demand & address an international audience. The Jargon dashboard is the heart of this tool, the control center. It will easily import & localize your app’s store information, push notifications & any other brand materials you might have.
1st create a project, integrate the SDK into your mobile app, get translation, open the Jargon dialogue on your phone & get going.

No more e-mails, google docs, zip files, apks and hours of wasted time. Instead, the Jargon Dashboard is a simple & intuitive dashboard where you can manage & direct your entire mobile strategy. For teams of all shapes & sizes, Jargon makes every aspect of the localization initiative easier. It helps in sourcing translations, to reviewing in context, to publishing over the air.

Features like the Translate Now Button, The Activity Tab, The Project Info Tab, The Project Locales Tab, The Contributors Tab & The Jobs Tab helps you use this application.

Jargon really walks away with the trophy when it comes to translations. By just clicking the ‘Translate Now’ button, you can get any translations you like. You have many options to upload translations & string files via the ‘Translate’ page of the Jargon dashboard.

Jargon has 2 modes –  Production Serving & Editor Mode, both of these can be on at the same time.

This Dashboard uses almost no memory, & since it only syncs on an interval & in the background it doesn’t hurt your battery usage.

By providing your email address once you have the app installed on your phone you have all components needed to start reviewing. Content versions are used to track your apps copy changes. You have explicit control over your apps copy versioning.

Jargon comes with a free as well as paid plans.
