COMPUTEX TaipeiThe Internet of Things (IoT) connected devices including wearables will form a major portion of COMPUTEX TAIPEI Summit Forum 2015, scheduled to kick off from June 2 this year.

The Summit is positioned as “the most seminal event in the global ICT industry”, the biggest perhaps in Asia. The actual exhibition has been organised at the Taipei International Convention Center, and will start on June 3.

According to Online reports, there will be at least 46 wearable device exhibits including smart glasses and smart clothes.

The theme of this year’s Summit Forum is, ‘IoT and the Cloud: Software to Hardware—The Next Step’. Participating in it, leaders from global tech companies will explore the integration of software and hardware, brought about by mobile and cloud technology and the IoT, and its profound impact on the global industry and our lives.

Just to remind our readers, well-known research agency IDC has predicted the IoT market size to top US $2.9 trillion by 2016, surpassing that of smart and embedded systems ($2.6 trillion).

Taiwan’s tech industry—from upstream semiconductor vendors to brand owners—is also concentrating on software-hardware integration and introducing innovative products, services, and solutions as it vies for a share in the cloud and IoT boom.

The COMPUTEX TAIPEI Summit Forum 2015 has speakers like Founder and honorary Chairman of Acer Inc. Stan Shih; Corporate Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Mediatek Inc. Johan Lodenius; Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of ARM Holdings Business Development, among other notables, participating in it.

For instance, Stan Shih will talk about how Acer turned losses into profit and rejuvenated the brand through its “Build Your Own Cloud” (BYOC) campaign. Johan Lodenius will share how Mediatek, as the world’s leader of mobile IC design, implements its key software-hardware integration strategies in the age of smart mobile devices.

The exhibition will have around 5,000 stalls showcasing new laptops to Internet-based schemes to make home appliances run on their own, a lot like last year.

Further, one of the show organisers, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), will be hosting the widely-acclaimed CPX Conference in the Taipei International Conference Center. Spread out between June 2 and 3, the conferences will focus on the current hot topics of wearable technology, smart cities, the IoT and Cloud technology. Scores of industry leaders from the United States, Finland, South Korea, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Taiwan will be speaking at the CPX Conference.
