Instagram has announced 2 updates to “help connect the community to the world as it happens”. According to an
official blog post, the updates relate to Explore, which has been completely revamped, &
search, which has been tweaked.
Instagram users upload about 70 million photos & videos every day, so 1 can only imagine what’s happening at the backend. Yet, users need to have the means to find out, at the press of a button, what’s happening in
Instagram. So be it the scenes at the NBA Finals or the performance of a local band, these moments captured by users need to be available to other users. That’s what the 2 updates claimed to have done – made finding things even more easy on
Instagram.
With the new “Places Search”, said the blog post, users will now be able to “peer in at just about any location on earth,” allowing them to scout out for the next vacation spot in the South Pacific, get a look inside that hot new restaurant or experience your favorite music festival. The new Top
Search also lets users
search across people, places & tags all at once.
Instagram has also completely “reimagined” the Explore page to make discovery immediate & effortless. The new Explore now surfaces trends as they emerge in real time, connecting users to events & conversations both near them & around the globe.
