Instagram Direct gets new features

It was launched almost two years ago but was lacking on certain fronts. Perhaps this may change things for Instagram Direct.

When the in-app chat feature was launched, it did not have the ability to send photo replies. That’s changed, starting today. The 85 million or so users of this private group messaging service can now reply with photos in a thread & start a conversation with just text. Plus, rather than tag friends in the Comments section of public feed posts, Instagram now has a new Direct share button that lets you send other people’s photos or videos in a private chat.

The changes, said Online analysts, could make Instagram Direct a hit among teens, much like Snapchat. It could also give users a way to talk with friends about interesting public posts without their conversations getting lost in comments.
