Google announced ‘Pixel’, a mobile phone that will take over its current Nexus line. It comes in 2 variants – Pixel & a larger model called Pixel XL. The new model comes with a virtual assistant similar to Siri called ‘Google Assistant’, greatly improved camera features & a sleek new design that’s set to compete with premium Android phones from Samsung & LG, as well as with the recently announced Apple iPhone 7.
At the launch on Tuesday, Oct 4, 2016, Google made a big deal of the new assistant being introduced with the Pixel as well as with Nougat, the new version of Android that ships with it. By pressing & holding the home button or activating it verbally, you can do things like ask the phone to show you pictures you’ve taken at a specified time, or tell you what’s being performed at a venue, book a concert or sporting event, or even a table at a restaurant.
