Gmail introduces ‘Smart Reply’ powered by machine learning

gmailsmartreplyGoogle will now be answering your emails. Before you panic, let’s clarify, not all your emails. Just the ones that Gmail thinks require a short reply.

Announcing this on the Gmail official blog, Google said ‘Smart Reply’, as the new feature is being called, will let users tap on 1 of the suggested responses to emails to enable editing. Smart Reply will suggest up to 3 responses based on the emails you get. For those emails that only need a quick response, it can take care of the thinking, thus saving time spent typing. And for those emails that require a bit more thought, it gives you a jump start so you can respond right away.

Inbox uses machine learning to recognize emails that need responses & to generate the natural language responses on the fly.

Smart Reply will be rolling out later this week on both Google Play & the App Store in English.
