Gamers worldwide now have dedicated social network in ‘Gamer World’ – #Startup

gaming social network

If you’re a gamer then you probably like to interact with other gamers socially to help you discover new game titles, share your gaming achievements & exploits, or just to shoot the crap with your fellow gamers. Now you can do all this without having to use general purpose Social platforms, like Twitter, YouTube or Facebook, with the introduction of Gamer World (GW), the social network dedicated exclusively to gamers.

Gamer World, which is very much a work in progress, was launched recently as an open beta, with about 600 beta testers currently participating around the world. It’s the brainchild of Istanbul, Turkey-based entrepreneur & Founder Sefa Kuru, who started the platform to satisfy the needs that he & his buddies were having as gamers, told What’s New On The Net:

Meeting with other gamers and finding game-mates to play with was always a challenge for us. We had to visit Facebook groups/pages, or gaming forums to find people with similar interests. It was quite difficult to communicate with people. Then we went about conducting lots of research about how other people deal with these issues. We then realized that this is a common problem for everyone. We heard a need echoed throughout the industry – and have responded by developing a platform where gamers can find, share, & interact with each other under one umbrella.

The GW platform allows users to easily find fellow gamers to play with, to socialize & even share Content with, through sources like YouTube, Steam, Twitch & Twitter. Although it’s still in beta, GW already come with a wealth of features like:

  • Game Mate Finder – Allows users to find & chat with game competitors or teammates based on game name & location
  • Gamer World Map – Using the Google Maps API, users can find each other based on their geographical location, then zoom in, access profiles & friend each other
  • Virtual Economy – GW Fights & general activity in the platform earn users G-Coins, GW’s proprietary virtual currency, that can be used to buy from their Online store, buy additional features & upgrade to premium memberships
  • GW Fights – Users can set up or join in challenges & wager on the outcome. After the challenge gets started, users can join in by watching & voting on the winner
  • Gamification – Users get rewards & medals based on number of posts made, accomplishing platform quests & other activities

Gamer World is free to use, & you can participate by registering in the beta program here.
