‘Facebook Workplace’ – here’s what it’s all about

communication appSince the inception of THE social network Facebook, there’s been a lot of buzz about the use of social media in the workplace & its effects on workers, employee as well as employer productivity. A lot of people, mainly employers & top management of various companies, were always worried that social media was being abused at the workplace, & was allowing the employees to become distracted from their tasks.

Facebook seems to have thought about this issue long & hard, & has finally released a different version of its social media application & brought it to the business world called Workplace.

‘Facebook Workplace’ is a social media solution built specifically for, well, the office. Facebook had been running an in-house version of its app for years, & discovered that having a social app at the workplace helped employees connect much the same way that it helped users of facebook.com connect with friends & family. It started small, only providing this new app to a handful of companies. The top 5 countries with the most users of this new app were India, US, Norway, UK, & France.

Now, Facebook Workplace is available for any company or organization around the globe. This app will be especially useful for companies that have many employees in the field, according to the FB team. Communication is key, & this makes that & much more possible.

Among the many things you can do:

  • Connect everyone in your company & turn ideas into action.
  • Through group discussion, a personalised News Feed, & voice and video calling, work together & get more done.
  • Workplace is an ad-free space, separate from your personal Facebook account.
  • Use the Work Chat app to message instantly

This new app has a free trial for 3 months after which you need to pay per active user.
