Facebook updates controls of News Feed, users get more power

Social network Facebook has announced that it had redesigned & expanded its News Feed preferences to give users even more control over it.

Here’s what it said on its official blog: Today we are announcing even better tools for you to actively shape and improve the experience. We’ve redesigned and expanded Facebook’s News Feed Preferences to give you more control. To help prioritize stories, and make sure you don’t miss posts from particular friends and Pages, you can now select which friends and Pages you would like to see at the top of your News Feed.

Within News Feed Preferences, users may now tap on a friend’s profile picture to see their posts 1st. They will then see any new stories they’ve shared since their last visit to Facebook at the top of News Feed, with a star in the top right of their post.

Users can also scroll down to see the rest of their News Feed normally. Helping users find new Pages to follow can help them connect with publishers, artists & businesses they may be interested in. Based on the types of Pages a user may have liked in the past, he/she can discover new Pages in order to get more of the stories they care about.

FB said with an updated design of the tools previously launched, users can now see a list of the top people, Pages & groups that theyhad seen in your News Feed over the past week, & choose to unfollow any friend, Page or group if users didn’t want to see their updates. A user can also see who he had unfollowed in the past & choose to re-follow them at any time.
