Facebook introduces video calling in Messenger app

Social network Facebook has “extended” its voice-call feature in its Messenger app & added a new dimension – video calling. That too, video calls through Messenger can be made between 2 different smartphone OS – from Android to iOS & the other way round.

According to an official announcement on its official blog, FB said users could now have face-to-face conversations with friends & others via Messenger. “You can quickly start a video call from any conversation with just 1 tap,” it said. “If you’re messaging with someone & realize that words just aren’t enough, you can simply choose the video icon in the top right corner of the screen & start a video call right from within an existing Messenger conversation.”

Lets not forget, Messenger already offered people the ability to make voice calls. Video calling will expand Messenger’s real time communication features, enabling the more than 600 million people who use Messenger every month to reach others wherever they are, from anywhere. It’s fast, reliable and high quality.

Video calling in Messenger is available for calls made from a mobile phone to another mobile phone, even if one person is on iOS & the other person is on an Android device.

Video calling in Messenger is launching today for people on iOS and Android in Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, the UK, the US & Uruguay.
