Collaborative Online whiteboard ‘Deekit’ introduces a Premium version

If you work with other people remotely, then you might have heard about Deekit, one of the most feature laden & certainly best known free virtual whiteboards around. They have recently introduced a ‘Premium’ version to help out users who need to collaborate with lots of people at the same time.

Deekit is an Online Web app where you can invite other users to share a work area. In it you can draw & write so that all invited users can see the Content at the same time & they can collaborate on whatever’s being presented.

With the free version you can have up to 3 people participate in the virtual meetings, & make use of templates that help get you started, as well as resources to help you draw & represent objects without having to rely on your mouse. The idea is to allow participants to discuss drafts, share designs & to participate in remote brainstorming sessions.

Deekit Premium extends the capabilities of the free offering by removing the 3 participant limit & comes with new features, such as:

  • An advanced shape library with shapes for design & wire frames, sketching architecture diagrams…
  • You can import any content from the web
  • Ability to view videos & slides directly from your whiteboards
  • Can create and organize your boards in folders
  • Advanced access management tailored for bigger teams

All of this is stuff you can’t do with the free version & that can really help get a large team going & help level up their collaboration. Other things that Premium users can do are things like the ability to pin links to other sites, adding spreadsheets & social media cards, links to books…

Deekit is a Tallinn, Estonia-based startup, founded & led by former head of operations at Skype, Kaili Kleemeier. The Company got its start after leaving Skype with 3 other colleagues in 2012 to focus on creating a compelling way for remote teams to collaborate that would go beyond what Skype brings to the table. They decided to simplify things by making the whiteboard the focus, & so Deekit was born.

The pricing for Deekit can be consulted here. The free version is still available, with the Premium (Standard) version costing € 7.50/month if you commit to an annual subscription. An Education version is also available (also for nonprofits) that will give you an 85% discount over the standard price.
