Convert voice messages to text with ‘Voicy’ – #bots

new chatbotAre you tired of listening to all those voice messages left for you? Well, ‘Voicy’, a bot that automatically converts voice messages to text, will come handy for you. It could save you from playing trough multiple hours of unread voice messages.

To convert your voice messages to text, you just forward any voice message to Voicy, add to your group or record a voice message yourself. The bot will then convert the voice to text automatically. Caution: This bot works in Telegram app only.

Initially, Voicy only accepted voice messages. However, with some few updates the bot recognizes audio files as well as file shared from other apps like Whatsapp.

How does Voicy work

Voicy uses 2 voice recognition engines, i.e. wit.ai & Google Speech. The wit.ai engine is free. However, it is less private & less accurate. In addition, it cannot convert messages that are over 50 seconds. On the other hand, although not free, Google Speech is completely private. In addition, it is more accurate & can convert messages that are longer than 50 seconds.

To use Google Speech, you will have to buy Google voice seconds inside Voicy. When using the Google Speech, you’ll get 60 seconds for free, but you have to cover the costs after that. However, they recommend you only to use Google Speech for commercial reasons as well as if you want to receive better quality of the voice recognition.

Given that it is a multilanguage bot, its developers allow you to fork & pull request new languages in their GitHub repository. If you contribute to translation, they claim that they will reward you with 10000 Google voice seconds.

This bot is written using Node.js. Currently, Voicy supports over 80 languages & dialects.

This bot’s creator is Nikita Kolmogorov. He is also the creator of arbeitbot.com.
