Collaborate Online on a shared screen with ‘USE together’ – #Startup

With this Online service you can invite your virtual team to “share” your desktop & start creating things together as if you’re gathered around the same machine, but with each member having control over a cursor. Each user can interact with your apps & data in real time.

The USE together collaborative screen sharing solution was originally developed for health care professionals by OPEXMedia, a France-based development company, together with the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne. It was used to comment images & get advice from colleagues in real time. Since then it’s been released for a public Beta in which you can participate for free.

Only the initiator of a working session or group get together needs to install an app on their machine. Then guests can join on that screen as long as they have a web browser supporting the WebRTC standard without any additional software or plugins needed.

USE together lets you share any app running on your screen, seamlessly making it multi-user ready. This means that you’ll need much less meeting setup & coordination. Your Online collaboration sessions will be more productive as you remotely work & progress together for virtually anywhere.

Other other features of USE Together are:

  • Reliability – it adapts itself to varying network conditions negotiating multiple media types & endpoints & efficiently using bandwidth
  • Device independence – only the meeting initiator needs to be on a Windows PC, all other participants can join from a browser on virtually any device
  • Low latency – use of latest gen video encoding tech means that it’s really fast even on slow connections, close to native device usage speeds
  • Privacy-aware – an encrypted peer-to-peer connection between collaborators encases a ‘live’ stream of your desktop so no data can be intercepted

You can download USE Together for 64 Bit Windows here. Mac & Linux versions are in the works & will also soon be available. Currently only Chrome or Firefox browsers are supported to use the Beta release & up to 3 users can share the screen simultaneously.
