If you’re not a technical whiz, it can be rather difficult & may take endless hours to get up to speed & master the stuff you need to get your startup project off the ground. Even if you can afford to contract out your Website development, design, marketing, social presence… you may quickly max out your budget. You can instead opt for taking a look at NoCode’s directory of free resources & tools, which just about anyone can use even without a tech background or experience.

The NoCode directory Website was itself built without using specialized software or using outside professionals in an attempt by its creator & founder, Sam Dickie, to practice what he preaches. It uses the very same tools & resources featured on NoCode. In fact, Sam Dickie, who runs London-based design studio Design[io] based the idea for NoCode on his experience creating a number of Websites without a tech background & with extremely low budgets.

The various tools, hacks & resources which he gathered over the years have formed the basis for NoCode, “itself an Online resource compendium & central clearing house.” As stated on the NoCode Site, its mission is to inspire the non-technical entrepreneur by arming them with –

…the tools to create a brand, website, portfolio, business without needing to know a single line of code, design or marketing experience… & to empower people with the tools that can lower the barriers to entrepreneurship without breaking the bank in the process.

The criteria used to pick the tools are:

  • All tools & resources are personally tested prior to inclusion.
  • They are all free or at least offer a “freemium” service.
  • They are simple to use & don’t require prior experience to use them

Using NoCode is free. The directory’s categories include ‘Name Generator’, ‘Logo Design’, ‘Website Builders’, ‘Portfolio Creators’, ‘Stock Images’, ‘Stock Video’, ‘Design Tools’, ‘Newsletters’, to name a few.

As an example, if you click on the SEO tools category, you get a concise definition of the why you should be using these tools, followed by a list of tools & resources, each also with a useful description & link: Google Trends, Raven, Semrush…
