Brands can now shut out negative comments on FB – #Startups

Sour Grapes

Businesses get a lot of engagement from people on their social media pages. While the bulk of the feedback is often positive, some people really get a kick out of bad mouthing some brands or individuals. What better place to do that than on a Facebook page or post. This can often lead to less engagement & even lower returns on the company’s investments. It would be great if such “sour grapes” were to be kept from the comments section of a company Facebook page.

Now, there’s a service that offers that service that is incidentally known as Sour Grapes.

This startup will scan all incoming comments in real time to tell whether they are positive or negative. It can do this by using 1 of 2 ways. Natural Language Processing (NLP) is used to determine whether the sentiments are positive or negative. Secondly, the user can set a list of predetermined keywords that will show that a comment is negative. An example is when insults are used or words like disappointed pop up in the text.

The above methods can either be used independently or together depending on how the user customizes the platform. Once various comments have been identified as negative they are removed from the feed so that when people look through the comments all they see are positive reviews. Monitoring is done 24 hours a day & hence users who have had experience with trolls will be able to carry out their businesses peacefully. This should boost overall ratings & increase a company’s sales.

At the end of the day, some of the negative comments constitute constructive criticism & businesses need these to learn & improve. The hidden comments aren’t deleted rather can be found on the Sour Grapes dashboard. Statistics provided on the number of negative comments that are coming in at a particular period may also prove helpful.

There are 3 current pricing plans to choose from for use of the platform.
