Email app ‘Astro’ uses AI to unclutter your Inbox – Bot

These days most of us are getting a bit tired of the sheer volume of email messages we get & will often miss or forget an important message because of it. ‘Astro’ wants to come to the rescue & end Inbox overload by helping you “focus on the most important messages”.

The Astro email client is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) & works on Apple Mac & iOS as well as Android. It’s currently in public beta & is available for Gmail & for Office 365.

So it joins a long list of email apps that have come & gone, but Astro has a list of really useful features that reminds one of Gmail on steroids: send later, snooze, unsubscribe, custom notifications, priority Inbox…

But maybe 1 of Astro’s most interesting features is its Astrobot assistant that helps users through a chatbot interface to automate common workflows like setting & getting reminders or archiving messages.

With Astro you can also customize your experience & improve productivity by setting up swipes to move, archive, read, delete, snooze & favorite emails. Even customize your snooze & send later times. If you’re so inclined you can receive notifications only for priority emails.

Astrobot uses machine learning to get smarter & already recognizes 100s of questions & comments out of the box. In fact, Astro will soon be available on the Amazon Echo & its Alexa conversational interface, so you’ll be able to talk to Astrobot & manage your email using your voice.

Astro is also trying to get into the enterprise by using social connections to glean out spam & cold sales messages by looking for connections among your contacts, so you’ll know when an email from an unknown source may be trusted by a colleague.

Astro was founded in 2015 by a number of IT industry veterans that were involved in companies like Yahoo, Zimbra & LinkedIn. The Company is led by CEO Andy Pflaum & is based in Palo Alto, California, USA. The app is currently free & is in public beta.
