‘Asana’ is visual project management tool founded by Facebook co-founder

This Web & mobile platform helps teams organize their projects visually as either Trello-style boards or by lists. They can manage unlimited projects, easily share tasks between projects + it comes with chat boxes & community support.

As the company states on its Site, “We try to cut through the chaos with endless meetings & micromanagement, but we end up with less time & not much more clarity.” Asana is a productivity tool for projects that all team members can use to cut through the common problem of scattering of information & diffusion of responsibilities & their increase over time.

Asana’s solution organizes everything, “….from the most immediate details to the big picture.” Each team member knows what they should be doing & why, resulting in a level of transparency, focus & clarity that lets teams collaborate with less friction, producing great results.

The platform’s main features are:

  • Project status charts & graphs that show progress at a glance without having to schedule status meetings or sending emails
  • Tasks that can be easily created & assigned to a teammate
  • Conversations that can easily be turned into actionable tasks
  • A smart, focused Inbox that filters out irrelevant items & lets you get only the team updates you need
  • The organization of tasks into shared lists or boards for your programs, meetings & initiatives
  • Customization & matching of your workflow using sections & columns, adding structure to any project
  • Pre-made project templates are available to add new workflow
  • File attachments can be added to any task or conversation from Google Drive, OneDrive, Box or Dropbox
  • Task conversations
  • Project conversations
  • Team pages
  • Dashboards
  • Calendars
  • Task asignees/followers/guests
  • Private projects (can limit access)

Asana is a US based startup founded by Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz & Facebook & Google developer Justin Rosenstein (inventor of the ‘like’ button & Google Drive & Facebook Pages). They originally built the tool to solve internal Facebook project management issues & then rolled it out to the world at large.

You can get the product for free for an unlimited number of tasks, up to 15 team members & with basic dashboards & search. There’s also a premium version, as well as an enterprise version that’s available on demand.
