AOL’s email service ‘Alto’ now as smartphone app

altoNearly 3 years after it launched the desktop version of its Pinterest-like email client called ‘Alto’, AOL has launched the smartphone app of the same for iOS & Android.

Going by the initial response, the app’s design seems to be more like a transactional system than a mere communication tool. To combat the normal Inbox clutter, Alto auto-sorts emails into stacks, such as ‘photos,’  ‘shopping’ & so on.

Alto’s Dashboard is said to be quite a progresive 1, creating easy-to-view cards for things like upcoming events, shipments, flights, & hotel bookings. The cards pull only the relevant items from emails & rise to the top as they are needed, such as a boarding pass or hotel reservation. Some say the app looks aimed at business persons juggling multiple events.

Alto works with any email account.
