AMPY wearable device motion charger generates clean electricity on the go

What’s that 1 thing all of us mobile users wish we always had? More juice, right? So here’s AMPY MOVE, a wearable device & motion charger that generates clean electricity from, guess what, your physical movements! Which means the more you do stuff, the more power you generate.

The 1600 mAh battery will give your smartphone or any other device that extra charge needed to keep you connected while you are on the go, as opposed to running out of juice right when you need it most.

For the record, the AMPY MOVE motion charger, which is about the size of a deck of cards & weighs around the same as a smartphone, can charge any device that can be charged from USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port. So anything that charges via micro-USB, Apple Lightning, & other proprietary charging adapters can be juiced up by an Ampy.

It works best when you give it up & down motion. For example, you can clip it below your knee while cycling, on your arm or leg while running. You may even clip to your waist when you walk.

Oh, & you could strap it to your dog or kids & make them run around instead. If they’re going to be running around & making you miserable chasing them, the least you can do is make them produce some free & clean electricity while they’re at it (just joking).

The best part is that unlike solar & other clean power chargers, this one will charge your device just as fast as a wall charger. It’s waterproof, so you can wear it in the rain. But it’s not submersible, so don’t try to generate power while swimming.

There’s also an AMPY smartphone app (currently in beta) that you can use for getting battery life forecasts, tracking calories you burn & the energy you generate, & you can compete with your friends.

AMPY, formerly myPowr, was created by Evanston, US-based Stryde Technologies, Inc. The company was founded in Jan 2013 by Tejas Shastry, Mike Geier, & Alex Smith. Tejas is the company’s CEO & Geier is the CTO. Alex Smith is the Chief Product Officer.

AMPY managed to raise US $309,323 in crowdfunding from 2,573 backers on Kickstarter last year in October. The Kickstarter backers are due to receive their Ampy shipments in August this year. If you missed the crowdfunding campaign, you can still pre-order your AMPY through their Website for US $99.
