Video
advertising on the Internet is yet to take of. Not only are they
expensive to make but also time consuming to design. Yet, video
advertising no doubt is a very powerful medium, & more often than
not, creates much more of an impact than ordinary display ads. There's a
Startup now called Virool whose stated mission is to promote video ads. Virool
is geared for advertisers as well as Online publishers, i.e. those who
want the maximum display for their video ads & those who have the
platform like a Website or a blog to display such ads.
Virool is a self-serve advertisement platform that distributes a video ad across its range of Facebook & other Social Apps & Mobile Games. It claims to help videos get noticed.
Like I said before, this Startup has 2 categories - advertisers & publishers. For those wanting help to get their video ads go viral, you can open an account (for Free) with Virool as an advertiser. Then, for a budget as low as US $10, you can submit your video ad or its YouTube link, along with other details like budget, maximum price per view, demographics, & so on. Your ad is then published immediately. For now, Virool does not support any other type of Onlineadvertising
except the 'Cost per View' format. Advertisers pay for targeted unique
views with a minimum of 13 seconds engagement. The Startup is geared to
delivering between 500,000 & 100,000 unique views daily. You can
even target your ad to specific countries.
For Online publishers, Virool
also offers a way of monetizing their ad inventory. After you have
registered as a publisher, you have the option of either embedding the
'Auto run' category of ads, where top paying video ads are displayed for your Website visitors one after the other, or select video ads. Payout for publishers is through PayPal with a minimum limit of US $10.
Check the video below to understand how Virool works.
So, how is Virool different from ads on YouTube?
According to a post on the ViroolBlog, Search Engine Google Inc has introduced advertising on YouTube
videos but in the form of a pre-roll, i.e. before a particular video
starts playing. Because of this, it said, many viewers skipped the ads
after it had played for barely 5 seconds. But since Virool does not force Website traffic to view ads, the engagements between advertisers & potential users is much more though Virool advertising platform, it claimed.
There are many more features to Virool, a Startup that went Online earlier this year. The company is based in San Francisco, California, USA.
Create your own news feed
By: Bob Y., Aug 1, 2012
There are news feeds & then there are news feeds. Many Social Networks including Facebook have such feeds. Then there's this Startup called Wavii which
allows you to create your personalized feeds on the subjects you wanna
follow. So, if you are interested in politics or Smartphones, you can
then set up a feed which, the guys at Wavii claim, will update you on developments in these 2 sectors.
Because of the information explosion, it has become very difficult for anyone to remain updated on subjects
of interest. So, here's a way, create a news feed around areas of your
interest. Say, if you want to keep abreast with Internet developments,
you can create a feed around it (besides of course following this
Website).
Wavii is a platform that allows you to do that. This Seattle, US-based Startup launched earlier this year is still in Beta. But you can log in using your Facebook
account. Once you are done, it prompts you to select topics of your
interest. Once that's out of the way, it starts throwing up all such
developments around it as the software can track on the Web. You can follow people or subjects of interest or companies or even Startups. That way, your Internet feed, for example, will throw up results revolving around the Web, Startups & even Websites reporting on Web developments.
Wavii runs on a distributed software platform running across thousands of servers. The aim of the guys behind this Startup is to organize data the way machines will understand it.
