Tell your story Online in 4D

By: Sorab Ghaswalla, July 25, 2012

Meograph is positioned as a "digital storytelling tool" that went into Open Beta a few days ago. Essentially  what Meograph does is to mainly use 2 tools - Online map & timeline (a feature we are by now quite familiar with) to allow  users to create an interactive story. It's like creating an advert Online or a podcast.

You may log in using your Facebook account or you can create your story without even signing up first. The interface that opens up prompts you into filling up the main points. Once saved, the file is called a Meograph. You can now start editing it or rather, putting things in it. Using Google Maps +  timeline feature, you can plot out the entire story (whatever it may be) according to the days when each part of the story happened, plotted on a Google Map of the world. So, you could perhaps tell of the history of Beatles or that summer of 1966 in your own words. You could tell your story in 30 seconds or even more. Once you have finished adding the images, you can then publish your very 1st Meograph. For this, the account user name you choose is important.

Not only does Meograph helps create a story, you can even share the story with others Online by using any of the Social Media Networks or by embedding it on your own Website or Web Page. So, why is it called story telling in 4 D? Because this San Francisco, USA-based Startup uses a combination of maps, timeline, links & multimedia to tell stories in context of where and when.

There are various uses you can put this Startup to - news channels can broadcast their news reports, say a car chase or the life & death of a personality, teachers can use it as an educative tool.
