Parental Watch not required for this Site

By: Bob. Y, Feb 7, 2012

For parents, their children taking to the Internet can be a nerve racking experience. Constant monitoring, surveillance, it's almost like spying. Now, there's a pre-loaded Browser called KidBox which has Content exclusively for children aged between 2 & 8 years. You can download it on your PC & get started.

The Browser is only available in Spanish right now but the guys here are coming out with a Portugese version, too. KidBox is based in Uruguay, so one does understand the need for the 2 languages but we wish there was an English download available, too. As of now, KidBox is free but the company plans to launch a premium version soon which has to be paid for.

There is a carefully spelled out 'Content Selection Process'. Very quickly - every Website, video or game is reviewed by a publisher specialized in Content for children. The Content is assigned to an appropriate age range. The Content is given a name & keywords that describe the Content are entered to empower the search engine. A child or parent who searches for a given subject can access games, videos & Websites that are appropriate for their age range on that topic. So once you start KidBox Browser, your child gets to surf only those Sites or check out those videos which have got the KidBox seal of approval.

Launched in 2012, KidBox was supported by ANII (National Agency for Innovation and Research, Uruguay). It claims you will never find nudity, profanity, intense violence, sexual violence, sex issues racism/ discrimination/propaganda, slander or illegal drugs related Content on it.  Readers/users are also requested to submit any Content they think is suitable for children to the KidBox guys. These will then be reviewed & if found suitable, will be included on KidBox.
